please keep my grandmother, alice rothwell, in your thoughts and prayers.
she went in for surgery a couple weeks ago to get cancer removed from her lung.
they were unsuccessful in removing all of the cancer, and complications increased after her surgery.
she is currently in critical care, but making progress. specifically, her vital signs are stabalizing and they are working on weaning her off of an oxygen machine.

prayers for her comfort and peace, and for the family would be much appreciated. thanks. :)

my oh my .. it's been MONTHS since i've posted anything real. i've been insanely busy, but life is good.
a few updates:

i'm living in a great house with three amazing roommates. these girls encourage, challenge and nurture me in so many ways. living with laura, brook and jinks is probably one of the biggest blessings this year has brought.

i am one third done with student teaching. i will graduate .. finally! ..in june (wahoo!) working with sixth graders has been a challenge in many respects, but also very rewarding as they are very thoughtful and honest. this spring i will have the opportunity to accompany the class to outdoor school at camp orkilla! i am very excited about that:).

as for after this year .. who knows! i am considering moving down to portland as a large portion of my community of friends has been moving down there little by little over the last few years, and alex will be attending art school down there. i may not be able to get a teaching job in oregon (as my certification is only for washington), but i am looking into americorps jobs or substituting for some time.

this spring, alex will be leaving for a five month hiking trip from the southern tip of california, up to the canadian border (the pacific crest trail). i hope to join him and his hiking pal brandon for a portion of the hike after graduation (i fear i won't be close to in good enough shape to hike miles and miles per day - yikes!)

our lease runs through august, so i'll be spending most of the summer in bellingham, working and enjoying freedom from studying. after six years in college (ridiculous, i know), i'm not sure what i'll do with myself without things to study, classes to attend and papers to write. i suppose i'll become a REAL adult ;).

my walk with Christ has been fairly stagnant. no big ups, no big downs. i don't like it when it is in this state. i've been feeling some sadness at the way my church community has crumbled in many ways from what it was. we still meet, we still share, we still care for one another .. but the amount of selflessness that used to permeate it seems to have slipped away. this is something i am continuing to pray about.

this has been a looong post, i apologize ..  but i suppose it was about time i brought this up to date! i hope everyone is doing well and i'd love to hear from those i haven't heard from in awhile! :) blessings ....
